In March of 1992, Oak Tree Golf and Development Company was formed with offices in Indian Wells, California. Key personnel of Oak Tree Golf and Development were the same individuals who produced golf and resort projects with worldwide reputations of excellence for Landmark Land Company, Inc., from 1974 to 1992.

In the summer of 1993, it was decided to change the name from Oak Tree Golf and Development Company to Landmark Golf.
